the first step...
It is a small beginning, but we will succeed ! What we all should do is to take our family into confidence. We may face indifference and be asked to keep our mouths shut. Just test the waters ! if you dont get a good response from the family, dont despair. we can share our views with friends and colleagues. the point is to keep the topic alive somehow. We must come out of the closet and discuss our death freely. Talk to your kids. Tell them what it is all about. Share stories of people who have donated their organs or who have pledged to donate eyes after death. look for like minded people and form a group. We are all together in this. Lets take one step at a time.

ReplyDeletehello ma'am.. i m one of them who want to donate their body n especially eyes..n these your blogposts, tweets n posts definitely encourage me more..so thanks a lot. this is a really very good move of u.. i m with this. some of my friends are also interested but all of us are single n our parents wants us to take steps in this direction later after marriage though my father is happily ready to donate his eyes.

Tks Nisha. You are lucky to have your father`s support. Pleasr encourage him to register with an Eye bank. If you dont know the address i will help you find one in your locality. If your family is apprehensive dont force them to donate body. Maybe gradually you will be able to convince them. In the meantime discuss eye donation and do something about it . All the best.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations for conceiving this noble idea and also for the efforts you are trying to do to make people aware of what they can do with their bodies after their death!!! i had donated my eyes about 10 yrs ago and willing to do the same with my body too. i am sure you would find my like minded people too. soon poeple would realise how much wood is burnt to bring a so called "waste" body to its ashes. By donation they would save the earth from pollution (air and water), save trees, and most importantly would give life to few in whom their organs would be transplanted !!!
ReplyDeleteTks manisha for your interest in thee cause. Hope you are doing something about it at your level and motivating others to be responsible citizens. It is not enough to fill up the eye donation forms only. One has to follow it up with family members. We look forward to your suggestions in future.
